Many of us have had to put our buying in Portugal plans on hold for a few months. But for those who want to get residency before the Brexit door closes, or who just want to get there now, waiting until next year is just not an option!

Tourism in Portugal officially opens to EU countries from June 6th, with Madeira and Port Santos opening from July 1st. A number of UK airlines are set to be resuming flights in June and July, although there is still some confusion as to how that will happen.

Portugal’s foreign minister said he was hopeful an ‘air bridge’ between the UK and Portugal could be agreed by the end of June. Make sure to check the official British government on travelling to Portugal, which you will find at gov.uk.

Portugal’s property market is open for business.

The good news is that once you do get there, Portugal’s property market is open for business. The word on the ground is that the market is still robust due to high demand and has shown incredible resilience during this time.

Finally, Brexit. With the transition period not budging, you will need to be resident in Portugal by this autumn to ensure that all the paperwork is completed in time. Of course, if you’re just buying a holiday home you can safely forget all about Brexit anyway!
