One positive thing that came out of the pandemic is how workplaces adapted to allow employees to work from home. With so many companies being more versatile about remote working, it has us wondering, could we actually live and work from Portugal?

In our 2022 Property Guides survey, over 40% of aspiring buyers in Portugal said that they would or might work from home in their Portuguese holiday home, which is of course entirely legal.

Fiona said, “There’s a high-speed internet solution for everybody – even if it’s quite a remote property, you can get satellite internet at a fixed rate which isn’t much more expensive than your usual network. Plus, a lot of the modern properties are being built with an office in Portugal”, so you’d have your very own workspace from move-in day.

Portugal’s property hotspots – including Madeira and Lisbon as well as Porto and the Algarve – have been attracting more and more remote workers, so you needn’t feel isolated. There are attractive shared-office spaces for freelancers, for when you want to leave the home and meet people, and you’ll have no problem finding other English speakers.
