Property-hunters moved a big step closer to owning their dream home abroad this week, when they attended the exclusive Your Overseas Home event in Manchester.

Your Overseas Home gave serious property-hunters the opportunity to meet and chat with carefully selected estate agents from Spain, France, Portugal and Italy. Visitors were also able to speak one-to-one with the Smart Currency Exchange team, on hand to explain the benefits of using their currency transfer service, as well as experienced bi-lingual lawyers who specialise in helping British people purchase abroad safely.

“Ours is a boutique, invitation-only event open to anyone with serious intentions to buy abroad within the next six to 12 months,” said Jana Korpova, head of Your Overseas Home. “We save our visitors the hassle of having to travel abroad to filter out one or two agents or law firms from the dozens seeming to offer the same thing. We do this by choosing our exhibitors carefully and limiting the number representing each country or region. The popularity of our first event in Manchester showed there is as much appetite to buy abroad in the North-West of England as there is in the South.”

Besides being able to speak face-to-face with property experts in relaxed surroundings, visitors to the Manchester event, held on 24th June in the centrally located Bridgewater Hall, were also able to attend the free country-specific seminars. Each seminar, chaired by Richard Way of Property Guides, featured an estate agent, lawyer and Smart Currency Exchange representative who served up invaluable tips for buying abroad and answered questions from the audience.

Both property and advice was on offer at Your Overseas Home, Manchester

Chloe Williams from The Spanish Estate Agent, who were showcasing property in Spain’s Costa del Sol at the event, said: “The more exclusive, intimate format of Your Overseas Home meant we could devote quality time to each visitor to our stand, all of whom appeared to have a genuine desire to buy in Spain. We expect to be seeing a number of them in the Costa del Sol soon!”

“We’ve found private health cover available from only €13 to €160 per month” – Spanish agent

Similarly, Stewart Banks from Costa Blanca property specialists Vincent Real Estate, commented: “The YOH Manchester show gave us the opportunity to meet serious people searching for their own Spanish dream, including clients who we have spoken to previously and who are in the process of selling their property in the UK. It is always good to meet and chat face-to-face and of course be there to answer any questions. We found many of the people we spoke to were very positive about a permanent move to Spain. The only Brexit influenced question we got regarded healthcare. The worst-case scenario would be if European health cover was stopped but to allay concerns, we’ve found private health cover available from only €13 to €160 per month, depending on circumstances and based on a 50-year-old.”

The grey of Manchester couldn’t dampen the spirits of those buying in the sun!

Paula Meireles, an independent lawyer based in the Algarve, was pleased to meet the people of Manchester and was able to spend enough time talking to them: “The relaxed venue, and being invitation only, meant I was able to have quality face-to-face time with buyers. The seminar on Portugal was also well attended, proving that the Algarve remains as popular as ever with British people.” It wasn’t only people from Manchester, however, several couples had made the trip up from London and others had come down from as far as the Lake.
