Alexis loved visiting France as a child and always dreamed of living there one day. Fortunately she met a man who had the same dream! So they married, then bought a beautiful 300-year-old character house in a pretty village in the Languedoc Roussillon. Alexis has been writing about France for a decade, inspiring and helping hundreds of British people to move there. She says: "Our only regret is that we did not move to France earlier! The lifestyle is tranquil, the summers are long and hot and the sun shines almost every day (or seems like it does!). We’ve made friends of many nationalities here."
A compelling TV competition programme, showcasing “the most preferred villages of French people”, has aired this week in France. There were 14 beautiful French villages listed, all vying for the title of “Le village prefere des Francais 2020”. Voting was open to viewers of this series until March 19th 2020. It is all about showing off France’s beauty.
After a strict lockdown since March, normality is returning as we enter phase two and savour the joys of meeting our friends in cafés, bars and restaurants, going to the beach and enjoying the countryside in this gloriously sunny weather.

Our nearest and much loved neighbour boasts some of the most glorious sunny spots in Europe, from the Riviera to the microclimates of the Charente. We could all do with some sunshine in our lives at present!
