Are you planning your winter escape? A couple of weeks in the sun is essential for those of us wanting to get away from the cold, grey and sometimes snowy British weather. If you are starting to think about this year’s winter break, remember you aren’t limited to the Costa del Sol or the Algarve. Here are four of our favourite exotic destinations for a healthy dose of Vitamin D this winter.

1. Thailand

There are so many reasons why Thailand tops the list for the best winter escape destination this year. Whether you are hoping to relax on a beach, explore ancient temples, indulge your taste buds or shop until you drop, Thailand caters for almost anyone. Popular destinations for British tourists and expats include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui and Koh Phangnang. The flight from London to Bangkok is around 12 hours one-way and costs approximately £500.

4. Barbados

The Commonwealth country of Barbados, located in the eastern Caribbean, is a popular holiday spot for British travellers looking for a sunny escape. From the sandy beaches, to the fascinating Bajan culture and the picturesque scenery, no place truly compares to Barbados.
